Cancer Screening

Cervical Cancer Screening (Smear test)

Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust has produced a new video for women and people with a cervix who are invited to cervical screening, and for GP surgeries. It shows what it is like to arrive at a GP surgery for a cervical screening appointment, and aims to reassure patients that if they have been invited to attend, then it is safe to do so.

Travel Vaccinations

If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to inform the Surgery in plenty of time before you travel- the Nurse will need some information prior to advise what vaccinations are required. This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required. There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below

Europe & RussiaNorth America
Central AmericaSouth America
CaribbeanAfrica
Middle EastCentral Asia
East AsiaAustralasia and Pacific

It is important to complete the questionnaire with plenty of time in advance – as an appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations- a minimum of 8 weeks before you travel is preferred. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine.

NHS funded travel vaccinations are available from your GP practice. The only travel vaccines that are provided by the NHS at no charge to patients are:
Polio (given as combined diphtheria/tetanus/polio jab)
Typhoid
Hepatitis A
Cholera

You will have to pay for travel vaccines that are not available free of charge on the NHS. If you want to go to your GP practice for your travel vaccines, then you will need to make an appointment. Prior to booking an appointment with the Surgery we ask you complete the questionnaire below which allows our Nursing Team to provide the appropriate advice.
